Prevention
Prevention is the most important aspect of oral health. At Cook Family Dentistry, we believe every person is entitled to a bright and healthy smile!
Crowns & Bridges
The doctors at Cook Family Dentistry believe that the best option is to keep as much of a patient’s original tooth as possible. Crowns are often recommended when a tooth has a large restoration, a known fracture or previous root canal therapy. In all of the mentioned circumstances, crowns are created to protect the remaining tooth from breaking or fracturing further. The practice offers several types of crowns such as gold, porcelain and zirconia.
Bridges are used to replace a missing tooth between two other original teeth or crowns. An artificial tooth is custom made to replace a patient’s missing tooth and is permanently attached to the surrounding original teeth or crowns. If a bridge is not a recommended option for a missing tooth, a patient may choose to have an implant placed.
Dentures
Denture patients can have confidence that Cook Family Dentistry will provide them with a beautiful custom smile. The doctors know that appearance, comfort and confidence in a smile are the most important attributes a person wants in their dentures. The practice uses the highest quality materials to create custom-crafted dentures for each patient. The doctors at Cook Family Dentistry can create new or adjust existing partial removable dentures or full dentures.
Teeth Whitening
One of the greatest attributes a person can have is their smile. A smile shows happiness, warmth, confidence and is the first thing people notice when they meet each other. Venus Whitening allows each patient to decide which whitening treatment best meets their needs. Cook Family Dentistry offers in-office teeth whitening, individually made take home whitening trays or pre-made take home strips. In as little as a few days to a few weeks, a whiter and brighter smile can be achieved!
Restorations
Sensitivity to temperature or pain while chewing can be a sign of tooth decay. After an X-Ray is taken to determine where the decay is located on the tooth, the decay is removed from the tooth and restored with either amalgam or composite. At Cook Family Dentistry, we offer both amalgam (silver) and composite (tooth colored) restorations. Amalgam restorations are primarily used on the back teeth where they are not seen while composite restorations are primarily used in the “smile zone”.
Dr. Cook, Dr. Greene and Dr. Kyle will examine each patient and discuss the best option and their recommendations for what type of restoration should be used for the decayed tooth.
Endodontic Treatment
Sometimes decay in a tooth may be too deep to treat with only a restoration or the tooth may show signs of infection in the bone. In these circumstances, Dr. Cook, Dr. Greene or Dr. Kyle may recommend root canal therapy. The doctors at Cook Family Dentistry do their best to perform as many root canal treatments as possible, however at times patients are referred to an Endodontist, a root canal specialist, to ensure the best results based on the individual evaluation of the tooth.
Invisalign
Thinking of a straighter smile? Invisalign orthodontic treatment may be the answer for you! Invisalign orthodontic treatment consists of clear, hard plastic aligners designed for each individual patient that move the teeth to result in a straight beautiful smile. Invisalign allows each patient to view their individualized virtual treatment plan enabling each step of the treatment and the final result to be seen prior to the start of orthodontic treatment
Implants
Implants are a recommended treatment to replace a missing tooth or several missing teeth and are more durable than bridges. Dr. Cook, Dr. Greene and Dr. Kyle will refer patients to a local oral surgeon or Periodontist for the actual implant to be placed in the mouth. The patient will return to Cook Family Dentistry after the healing process where the doctors will finish the implant process by placing an abutment and crown on top of the implant. The implant mimics the root of the missing tooth, the abutment mimics the tooth portion of the mouth to which a crown is permanently cemented on to. Implants can be used to assist bridges and to help stabilize dentures. Implants are great options because they do not affect any other teeth.
Oral Surgery
When a tooth is infected and unable to be treated with a restoration, root canal therapy or the tooth has a root fracture or broken at the gum line, an extraction is recommended. The doctors perform limited extractions within the practice for teeth that are able to be easily removed. For wisdom teeth and extractions that are not easily removed, patients are referred to a local oral surgeon’s office.
